Sue’s approach to ministry is to try to see what God is doing and to join in. Eclectic in her approach to worship, Sue is keen to support different styles and new ways of ‘being church’. Feeling that doing less but doing it well (easier said than done!) and valuing a community’s own unique expression of God’s love, traditional or otherwise, is not only much needed but eminently more life giving. The phrase ‘with not for’ has become a bit of a mantra whilst developing worship with folk with learning difficulties, and with female survivors of abuse.
Prior to ministry, Sue had an exciting career in the charity sector starting with people affected by drug and alcohol misuse and ending as a consultant on organisational review, turnaround and strategic planning. She served as a board member for a number of charities and public sector bodies whilst undertaking a master’s in theology at York St John’s and then trained full time for the ministry at the Queen’s Foundation in Birmingham.
Sue is a keen ecumenicalism and has an interest in interfaith relations. Sue has recently walked the Camino de Santiago with husband Danny. They have two children. She has recently taken up dancing and is trying (badly) to get back to running.
