Can you help with the Shoebox Appeal?

Every year Operation Christmas Child swings into action to collect and distribute thousands of shoeboxes filled with wonderful gifts to be distributed children throughout the world who otherwise would receive very little at Christmas.

But this doesn't just happen — it involves hundreds of volunteers who give their time, not just to fill the boxes and deliver them to the collection point but also to sort them and pack them ready for them to be shipped overseas to the waiting children.

Are you able to give a few hours of your time locally to assist with this process? The 'more the merrier' because 'many hands make light work!'

Huntingdon Methodist Church has been designated as the official collection point for this area and is looking for volunteers to assist in the receipt of the boxes and packing them ready to be transported to the local processing centre near Cambridge.

The Huntingdon Collection Centre will be open from Monday 11th November to Monday 18th November from 10.00am to 12.00 noon on weekdays and 10.00am to 3.00pm on Saturday 16th November. Free refreshments will be provided during this time. Further information from Sue Shorter on 07717 407907 or by email at: b.shorter@btinternet.com

Volunteers are also required at the local Processing Centre at Unit 11, Sawston Trade Park, Cambridge, CB22 3EE from Monday 18th November to Friday 6th December on weekdays between 10.00am and 12.noon, 1.30pm and 4.00pm and 6.30pm and 9.00pm and Saturdays between 10.00am and 12.30pm.

To register your interest or further information on helping at the Processing Centre please contact Laurie on 07815 555370

Why not join us at either of these locations and get involved in an exciting community activity the results of which bring so much joy and pleasure to very needy children throughout the world at Christmas.
